FOOD ART’ FROM KLKENNY’S SECONDARY SCHOOL STUDENTS. The theme for this year’s competition is: ‘Aspects of Kilkenny Life & Culture’
This is Savour Kilkenny’s aspiration to incorporate and involve young people from around the county in this festival of food. This year we are introducing a Food Art Competition aimed at Transition Year students from the 14 Secondary Schools in Kilkenny. The competition will be co-ordinated by the Art Teachers in each school. Students will be asked to submit a piece of Food Art with a Kilkenny theme. The finished pieces will be displayed in a marquee in the Castle Yard during the Savour Kilkenny weekend. Schools can submit as many entries as they wish to the competition. There will be three prizes awarded 1st, 2nd and 3rd for the best judged entries and this will be presented by one of our celebrity chef’s on Saturday 27th October 2012. This competition should be fun and the display is guaranteed to attract a lot of attention during the Savour Kilkenny weekend. Medium’s that can be used -
The sky is the limit as far as this is concerned. Any food product used as a foodscape, food sculpture etc is allowed. Props may only be used to enhance your food art display. Remember that all displays must have at least a five day life span. Prizes – Three prizes, 1st (ipad) , 2nd (ipod) and 3rd (IPod) will be awarded to the student for the best judged entry of the competition.
This will take place on Saturday 27 October at 3.00pm in the Castle Yard.
