Kilkenny Library Service has joined forces with Savour Kilkenny Food Festival to organise an edible book competition called “Books good enough to eat”.
Edible books are cake based creations that can look like a book in form and shape, be inspired by a book title, look like a book character or be based on a book’s text. While judging of this competition won’t be based on taste, the edible book must be made out of edible ingredients.

Savour Kilkenny will appoint a celebrity chef to judge the entries.
He/She will award 3 prizes of hampers of baking equipment and other goodies. Kilkenny Library Service will run a “Peoples’ Choice” nomination competition through its Facebook page. A photo of the cake will be in an online gallery of all the submitted cakes. There will be an extra prize for this competition winner.

Registration forms must be returned to Aisling Kelly, City Library, John’s Quay by 5pm on 19th October. Further details of judging date and exhibition venue will be supplied to those who have registered. Judging is expected to be on Thursday 25th October. The Edible Books will be displayed at a City centre location during the Kilkenny Savour Food Festival.
